The Water Resources Division (including San José Municipal Water and South Bay Water Recycling) of the City’s Environmental Services Department has had its Environmental Management System (EMS) certified to the ISO 14001 environmental standard. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-governmental developer of world standards for business, government and society. Certification of an EMS to the ISO 14001 standard requires an organization to manage, measure, improve, and communicate the results of its environmental programs in a more systematic way. Only those companies with excellent attention to environmental quality qualify for this globally recognized certification. Read more about the department’s EMS.
