Drinking Water Services:
Water Conservation

The San José Municipal Water System strives to be the most conservation-oriented water supplier in San José. We believe that conserving water is the most effective way to ensure a reliable supply of water into the future.

Why Does Conservation Matter?

The average household in the San José Municipal Water System uses about 360 gallons of water per day. Surprised? Much of that water is used during times when we’re away or asleep, and for things like washing clothes and dishes, taking a shower or flushing a toilet. The water we used is precious and should be conserved at all times - there are limits to both the amount of water which we can supply and the amount of water that can be disposed of properly. Whether you’re a business or a resident, we all have a responsibility to protect our water supply and the health of the South Bay.
