Fluoridation in North San José & AlvisoFrom November 1, 2005, San José Municipal Water System (SJMWS) will begin supplying fluoridated water to our North San José/Alviso customers, when San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) implements system-wide fluoridation. SFPUC is the wholesale water provider for SJMWS's North San José/Alviso service area. The majority of Bay Area communities already receive fluoridated drinking water including our Evergreen Service area. Fluoride will not change the taste, smell or appearance of the drinking water. The water will continue to meet all health and safety standards and will provide the added benefit of improved dental health to residents of all ages. We recommend that if you are taking prescription Fluoride supplements, either tablets or drops, to consult with your doctor or dentist once you begin receiving fluoridated water.
